IKMAA Destroys Mines, Explosives, and War Remnants in the Kurdistan Region

As part of ongoing mine clearance efforts across the Kurdistan Region, the Iraqi Kurdistan Mine Action Agency (IKMAA) has safely destroyed hundreds of landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO) that posed a significant threat to civilians. The following outlines recent operations:

IKMAA Operations in Erbil:
In Majidawa village, Soran District, IKMAA teams successfully carried out an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) operation. Following extensive manual clearance efforts, they safely identified and destroyed 42 anti-personnel mines and three explosive remnants of war (ERW) during a coordinated mass destruction operation. 
Additional clearance activities took place in Zane and Sherokyani villages in Mergasur District, as well as in Delziani village, Diana District. These operations resulted in the defusing of 10 anti-personnel mines and the safe transfer of 28 ERW to the main warehouse for future destruction. 

IKMAA Operations in Slemani:
In Swrgay Xwarw village, IKMAA’s teams in Slemani successfully neutralised several items of war remnants, including three mortar shells. All items were safely removed and transported to a secure location for disposal.

IKMAA Operations in Duhok:
In recent missions, IKMAA identified and recovered numerous landmines and explosive remnants in the Darkare District, Zakho Autonomous Administration, and the Faida District in Duhok. All hazardous materials were securely transported by the EOD team to designated destruction sites.
