Three Cleared Minefields Officially Handed Over in Slemani and Kirkuk

On Thursday, 24 July 2025, the Iraqi Kurdistan Mine Action Agency (IKMAA) office in Slemani, in coordination with the Committee for the Handover of Cleared Minefields, officially handed over a previously contaminated site known as Rabaya Panki Akoyan in Hajiawa, Rapareen District.
The minefield, covering an area of 45,000 square metres, was successfully cleared by IKMAA demining teams, with logistical support from Slovenia’s ITF Enhancing Human Security Organisation.
In addition, the Committee transferred two other cleared sites — Gardaqut and Kharmankan Sarkal — located in Turki village, Shwan District, Kirkuk Governorate. These two minefields, with a combined area of 130,000 square metres, were cleared by expert teams from the Mines Advisory Group (MAG).
