KRG Ministry of Natural Resources Condemns Continued Drone Attacks on Energy Facilities

At 19:10 on the evening of Wednesday 16 July 2025, a drone strike targeted the U.S. operated Hunt Oil field in Ba’adre, Sheikhan District, marking the second attack on energy facilities in Duhok Governorate that day. While no casualties were reported, the attack resulted in material damage.
The Ministry of Natural Resources expressed its deep concern over the continuation of these attacks and strongly condemned the acts of terrorism. Such assaults on energy infrastructure in the Kurdistan Region threaten the safety of local citizens and endanger civilian employees in the energy sector. The Ministry reiterates its calls on all relevant parties in the federal government and the international community to take immediate and effective measures to protect civilians, civil servants and energy infrastructure, and to prevent further attacks on the Kurdistan Region’s energy sector.
Drone attacks carried out on 14, 15 and 16 July 2025 have targeted critical economic infrastructure and oil fields in Khurmala, Sarsang, Peshkhabur, and Ain Safni, across Erbil Governorate, Duhok Governorate, and Zakho District, causing significant material damage to oil production.
The Ministry once again urges the federal government to fulfil its responsibility and take prompt and decisive action to put an end to these attacks.
