KRG Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources Hosts Polish Investors and Entrepreneurs

On Tuesday, 14 January, 2025, Begard Talabani, the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources, welcomed a business delegation from Poland. The meeting was also attended by Gharib Ahmed, member of the Iraqi Parliament.

Discussions focused on strengthening relations and fostering collaboration between the Kurdistan Region and Poland. Key topics included addressing the impact of climate change, expanding green spaces, providing investment opportunities, and diversifying the agricultural economy in the Kurdistan Region.

Minister Talabani underscored the importance of coordination with Polish investors and project owners. She encouraged Polish companies to play an active role in bringing investment expertise and entrepreneurship to the Region, enabling local farmers to benefit from these resources. She expressed hope that such collaborations would bolster food security and improve critical sectors such as livestock, veterinary care, poultry farming, and agricultural industries.

The Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources also emphasised the need to prioritise the construction of irrigation systems, dams, and ponds, alongside establishing factories for the production of chemical fertilisers, veterinary vaccines, and agricultural equipment.
