KRG Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources Meets with the Canadian Ambassador

On Tuesday, 14 January, 2025, Begard Talabani, the Kurdistan Regional Government's (KRG) Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources, held a meeting with Christopher Boehm, the Canadian Ambassador to Iraq.

The discussions centred on strengthening bilateral relations and fostering collaboration between Canada and the Kurdistan Region. The meeting highlighted a strategic approach to advancing the agricultural sector, livestock development, irrigation systems, and the diversification of agricultural production.

Minister Talabani encouraged the Canadian government to support the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources by facilitating connections between Canadian investors and entrepreneurs and the Kurdistan Region. She also emphasised the importance of partnership with local farmers, entrepreneurs, and companies. Furthermore, she called for the establishment of factories and advanced agricultural projects, leveraging the region’s fertile soil, favourable climate, and investment opportunities.
