KRG Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources Convenes Meeting on Advancing Water and Soil Studies

Begard Talabani, Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), convened a meeting with the participation of key stakeholders, including the Head of the Department of Coordination and Follow-Up, and Director Generals from the Ministries of Municipalities and Tourism, Health, Planning, Electricity, Trade, Industry, and Natural Resources.

The meeting aimed to review the latest developments in the council’s preparatory work, with a particular focus on advancing the strategic study of water and soil in the Kurdistan Region. Discussions also addressed the need to update data and information critical to the Region’s long-term strategic research agenda.

Participants underscored the importance of enhanced inter-ministerial coordination to expedite efforts in identifying the requirements for launching comprehensive research. The overarching objective is to confront the challenges posed by climate change and to assess the implications of infrastructure projects such as dams, water retention ponds, and strategic irrigation systems.
