Runaki Project Brings 24-Hour Electricity to 450,000 Households and 90,000 Businesses

The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Electricity has expanded the Runaki (“Light”) Project, delivering uninterrupted electricity to 450,000 households and 90,000 businesses.

This milestone benefits around 2 million citizens—approximately 30% of the project’s planned coverage.

So far, over 2,100 private diesel generators have been decommissioned, a number expected to exceed 7,000 by the end of 2026.

The project aims to achieve full regional coverage by late 2026.
