Electricity improvement works in next few months may result in temporary interruptions

The Ministry of Electricity informs the public that some citizens may face temporary electricity interruptions in the next few months.

As part of the Runaki programme, essential maintenance, repairs and upgrades have been carried out to stabilise the grid, and will continue through winter. During this period, some service interruptions may occur as teams work to enhance the network.

The Ministry wishes to reassure the public that in case of interruptions, major infrastructure facilities and critical care services will remain operational, and teams will be deployed to restore power as quickly as possible. During the works, we kindly ask for the public’s patience and understanding as we carry out these necessary maintenance works.

Where major maintenance works are planned, the Ministry aims to inform customers beforehand to minimize disruption and keep them informed of progress. Runaki customers are encouraged to register themselves for Runaki via this link to remain closely informed.
