Statement regarding Trade Bank of Iraq (TBI)

Erbil, Kurdistan Region – The KRG’s Ministry of Finance and Economy is concerned about delays with the Trade Bank of Iraq (TBI) during this week’s salary distribution in Slemani province.

This month, nearly 24,000 beneficiaries have been paid through TBI.  Between September 1st to 3rd, the KRG transferred nearly 27 billion Iraqi dinars to cover all beneficiaries’ salaries.

The KRG urges TBI to meet its contractual obligations under the MyAccount programme, including maintaining adequate human and technical resources to regularly replenish its ATM network across the Kurdistan Region, and in Slemani province in particular.

To address the current demand, the KRG requests that TBI branches and staff work beyond official banking hours to ensure every KRG beneficiary has timely access to their salary. It should also make the investments necessary in advance to prevent this from happening again.

The MyAccount team remains committed to working with the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) and all participating banks in the programme to deliver quality banking service to the people of the Kurdistan Region.
