KRG Minister of Higher Education Affirms Support for Kurdish-German University

On Monday, 16 June 2025, Aram Mohammad Qadir, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MHE) of the Kurdistan Regional Government, received Mohammed Mahwi, representative of the Kurdish-German University, to discuss enhanced cooperation with universities across the Kurdistan Region.

Mr. Mahwi provided an overview of the Kurdish-German University, noting its commitment to fostering scientific and academic collaboration with institutions in the Region. The university, based in Dresden, Germany, is scheduled to open next year.

Minister Qadir affirmed the Ministry’s full support for the Kurdish-German University and pledged to provide all necessary assistance—particularly in facilitating the exchange of lecturers and advancing human resource development within Kurdistan’s higher education sector.

A memorandum of understanding is expected to be signed soon, establishing a framework for joint collaboration between the two parties.
