KRG Ministry of Higher Education to Convene First Forum on Technical and Vocational Education

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) will convene the first forum on technical and vocational education in the Kurdistan Region. The forum will aim to develop a comprehensive strategy and action plan for advancing vocational and technical education, as well as to present key recommendations and proposals to promote growth and expansion in these fields across the region.

On Monday, 12 May 2025, Minister Aram Mohammad Qadir chaired a preparatory meeting with the deans of private technical and vocational institutions operating in the Kurdistan Region.

Minister Qadir emphasised that the Ministry’s strategic direction is centred on equipping individuals with the skills required in the labour market. This involves reforming the educational philosophy, modernising curriculum content, enhancing teaching and learning processes, and providing continual professional development - all while ensuring that educational outcomes are aligned with the evolving demands of various economic sectors.

The Minister further noted that the Ministry of Higher Education is actively coordinating with other ministries and relevant stakeholders to formulate integrated strategies aimed at expanding and institutionalising vocational and technical education across the Kurdistan Region.
