KRG Ministry of Justice Delegation Attends 3rd International Conference on Emerging Legal Issues in the UK

On Thursday, 5 June 2025, Mohammed Sleman, Head of the Legal Research Centre at the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Ministry of Justice, and Adnan Majid Mohammed, a political researcher at the Ministry’s Diwan, represented the Ministry at the 3rd International Conference on “Emerging Legal Issues”. The conference was jointly organised by the Department of Law at the University of Soran’s Faculty of Law, Political Science and Management, and the School of Law at Leeds Beckett University in the United Kingdom.

Dr Mohammed presented a paper entitled “Social Peace through Law in Kirkuk”. He also provided a legal analysis of legislation issued by the Iraqi Parliament that seeks to overturn decisions made by the now-dissolved Iraqi Revolutionary Command Council. The legislation addresses the restitution of property and agricultural land to their original Kurdish and Turkmen owners.
