Ministry of Peshmerga discusses reform assistance with European Union
Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) – Minister of Peshmerga Shorish Ismael on July 4, 2021, met with a delegation headed by the Head of the European Union Advisory Mission in Iraq (EUAM Iraq), Christoph Buik, to discuss the ongoing reorganization and unification of the Peshmerga forces.
During the meeting, the Minister outlined the considerable progress the ministry has made in implementing reforms and welcomed additional support and cooperation from partners, including the EUAM. Mr. Buik reaffirmed the mission and coalition forces’ commitment to provide assistance to the Peshmerga forces and the ministry.
Both sides agreed that the persistent security threat in the region and recent ISIS activities require greater coordination between Iraqi Security and Peshmerga Forces.
