KRG Ministry of Trade and Industry Reassures the Public of Abundant Food Supplies in the Kurdistan Region

On Monday, 16 June 2025, consumer protection and market inspection teams from the Ministry of Trade and Industry conducted visits to several markets and food warehouses in Erbil to assess the availability of food supplies and monitor pricing practices.

Nawzad Sheikh Kamil, Director General of Trade, affirmed that private sector warehouses currently hold sufficient food stocks to last for at least six months. He emphasised that the continued openness of international border crossings ensures a steady flow of goods into the Kurdistan Region.

He further noted that market prices remain reasonable, with many essential food items being sold at reduced rates in several locations.
