Minister Safeen Dizayee receives Member of the European Parliament, Hannah Neumann

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) – The Head of the Department of Foreign Relations (DFR) Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), Minister Safeen Dizayee met on Tuesday with Ms. Hannah Neumann, Member of the European Parliament (MEP) and Vice-chair of the Subcommittee on Human Rights.

At the meeting, Minister Dizayee briefed Ms. Neumann on the current political, security and stabilization situation in Iraq, Syria, and the wider region, and challenges that faces refugees and IDPs beyond their basic humanitarian needs in the Kurdistan Region.

The Minister hoped for more cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and the European Parliament in supporting refugees and IDPs, and helping them return home in safety and dignity, as well as nurturing relations to promote peace and human rights, and in other areas.

Ms. Neumann said that the purpose of her visit is to closely look at humanitarian rights issues and the EU’s projects in the Region, and to provide humanitarian aid to the refugees and IDPs.

Both sides emphasized the importance of international efforts to normalize Sinjar and better support all communities and guarantee their security and stability.
