Minister Safeen Dizayee receives Head of UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Iraq
Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) – Minister Safeen Dizayee Head of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Department of Foreign Relations (DFR) on Sunday met with the head of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Iraq Ms. Sheri Ritsema-Anderson to discuss humanitarian issues and areas of cooperation.
During the meeting, Minister Dizayee briefed Ms. Anderson on current developments in the Kurdistan Region and coordination mechanisms with humanitarian and international organizations.
The minister discussed the current COVID-19 situation for the internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugees, and the need for their return home in safety and stability. He also expressed DFR’s readiness to enhance cooperation with the UN and to support displaced persons.
Ms. Anderson thanked the KRG and DFR for their continued coordination with the United Nations agencies, and for welcoming a large number of refugees and IDPs in the Region.
