Statement by KRG Department of Foreign Relations

The Kurdistan Regional Government's Department of Foreign Relations (DFR) strongly condemns the burning of the Holy Quran for the second time in Stockholm, Sweden. The department also denounces the attack on the Embassy of Sweden in Baghdad, which violates the principles of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations 1961.

As a response to the actions taken by the Iraqi federal government and Ministry of Foreign Affairs - expelling the Swedish ambassador to Iraq and recalling its charge d'affaires in Sweden - the KRG has likewise decided to suspend the activities of its representative in Stockholm.
