DIT announces the launch of KRG’s Business Registration System

The Department of Information Technology (DIT) of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) is pleased to announce the launch of the new Business Registration System (BRS).

The new system is a crucial component of the digital transformation strategy announced by His Excellency Prime Minister Masrour Barzani. This initiative is a collaborative effort between the Prime Minister's Office, the Deputy Prime Minister's Office, the Department of Information Technology, and the General Directorate of Company Registration in the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

The new user-friendly portal streamlines registration for all business types, reducing the time and cost associated with registering a business or trade name. Both local and foreign businesses can apply and track the progress of their application as well as receive updates via email. Users can also access useful guides on the process.

The new digital platform will make registering businesses and trade names easier, allowing enterprises to flourish in the Region. The BRS will enable the sharing of data across the ministries and agencies of the KRG, providing a more seamless experience for users. The portal will generate a Unique Entity Number (UEN) for all newly registered businesses, which will serve as a digital identifier for use with other government services in the future.

Speaking about the launch, Hiwa Afandi, Head of the Department of Information Technology, said  “The launch of the BRS represents a significant step towards realising the government’s vision of a digitally advanced and interconnected future. The Department of Information Technology remains fully committed to implementing the Prime Minister’s digital strategy and vision, to ensure that citizens have access to modern and efficient services with their needs in mind.”
