Kurdistan Region Launches ‘Hajj Portal’ for Streamlined Pilgrimage Applications

The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Department of Information Technology (DIT) has launched the Hajj Portal, a new online platform that digitises the entire Hajj pilgrimage application process.

The portal enables citizens to register from anywhere using a mobile phone or computer, with applications verified by Hajj and Umrah offices in governorates and districts before the final selection draw conducted by the Ministry of Endowment and Religious Affairs. The system is integrated with the (KRDPass) digital identity platform to ensure secure, fair, and transparent processing, with each applicant limited to one submission per year.

In addition to citizens, the platform accepts applications from imams, doctors across various specialties, Hajj and Umrah companies, and relatives of martyrs and Anfal victims, using dedicated forms. Applicants can track their status and receive updates via SMS and in-system notifications. The portal is available in Kurdish (Sorani and Bahdini), Arabic, and English.

To ensure smooth adoption, the DIT has trained staff from Hajj and Umrah offices and the General Directorate of Hajj and Umrah in platform management, auditing, and conducting lotteries.

The initiative is part of the Ninth Cabinet’s wider digital governance strategy, aimed at making public services more accessible, transparent, and secure.

The Hajj Portal is now open for applications: https://hajj.gov.krd
