A Statement by the KRG Spokesperson

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) – The Kurdistan Regional Government’s spokesperson, Dr. Jotiar Adil, released the following statement in response to today’s attack on a Peshmerga convoy.

“Today, early in the morning, five Peshmerga soldiers were martyred and several others were injured as a result of an ambush by the PKK. The Kurdistan Regional Government strongly condemns this attack and will no longer tolerate the PKK’s harmful policies, which are costing lives and harms the livelihoods of the people of the Kurdistan Region.

“An attack on the Peshmerga Forces is an attack on all the people of the Kurdistan Region. Our Peshmerga Forces will continue fulfilling their duties with honour and protect the people and the land of the Kurdistan Region.

“We extend our condolences to the families of the honourable Peshmerga martyrs - may they rest in peace - and wish a speedy recovery for those injured in the attack.”
