KRG's Prime Minister and Deputy PM Schedule Baghdad Visit

On Thursday, September 14, 2023, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) will lead a government delegation to Baghdad for a series of discussions with the Iraqi Government.

Peshawa Hawrami, the KRG’s spokesperson, emphasised the KRG's commitment to productive negotiations with Baghdad. He expressed that “The KRG is determined to ensure that the people of the Kurdistan Region receive their rightful financial entitlements, including their salaries, consistent with the rest of Iraq.”

Furthermore, Hawrami stressed that while the KRG remains committed to its agreements with the federal government, the upcoming visit by the Prime Minister and his deputy signifies the KRG's urgent intention to resolve outstanding issues with Baghdad, especially those concerning the federal budget law.
