KRG Ministry of Interior Provides 20 Modern Fire Engines to the Civil Defense Directorate

As part of its ongoing commitment to public safety, the ninth cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has prioritised the protection of civilian lives. In line with this objective, the Ministry of Interior has supplied 20 modern fire engines to the Civil Defence Directorate.

At the headquarters of the General Directorate of Civil Defence, Hemen Mirani, Director General of the Diwan of the Ministry of Interior, and Brigadier General Yadgar Anwar Faraj, Director General of Civil Defence in the Kurdistan Region, formally delivered 20 modern fire engines, valued at more than €6 million, to fire brigade departments across the region.

During a press conference, Mirani underscored the critical importance of fire prevention, urging the public to equip their homes and vehicles with fire extinguishers. He also emphasised the responsibility of private investors and project developers to adhere to civil defence regulations and to ensure that buildings are constructed in accordance with international safety standards to minimise fire risks.

Mirani further highlighted the essential role of the Ministry in strengthening the capacities of fire brigade departments through the provision of vehicles, firefighting and rescue equipment, and specialised tools necessary for safeguarding lives and properties of the public during emergencies.

Brigadier General Faraj expressed his gratitude to the Interior Ministry for the delivery of the fire engines and affirmed that the new vehicles would be deployed immediately to serve the public.
