KRG Coordinator for International Advocacy and the Consul General of Korea Discuss Areas of Mutual Interest
On January 4, 2023, Dr. Dindar Zebari, the KRG Coordinator for International Advocacy, received Mr. Cho Kijoung, the Consul General of South Korea in the Kurdistan Region, to discuss areas of mutual interest.
Mr. Kijoung stressed that his government considers human rights as a major pillar of governance and works to advance its commitments worldwide. Furthermore, the Korean CG acknowledged the efforts of Dr. Dindar and his office in monitoring, advocating, and improving human rights status in the Kurdistan Region.
On his side, Dr. Dindar Zebari shed light on the current stages of implementing the KRG Human Rights Plan, which is an inclusive framework for cementing legislative and executive reforms across the KR. He also stressed the importance of having the international counterparts on board to manifest a swift and full implementation of the plan.
Mr. Kijoung alluded to the contributions of South Korea to the Kurdistan Region, which culminated in establishing an electronic system for procurement, assisting IDPs and refugees, and promoting religious and ethnic coexistence. On the top of these areas of cooperation, Dr. Dindar and Mr. Kijoung discussed establishing a rehabilitation center for drug addiction victims - which will be a milestone to reconcile the addicted persons into the society.
