KRG Coordinator for International Advocacy Meets with the Indian Ambassador

On Tuesday, 8 April 2025, Dindar Zebari, the Coordinator for the Office of International Advocacy of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), met with Soumen Bagchi, the Indian Ambassador to Iraq. The discussions centred on the KRG’s ongoing advancements across various sectors, with a particular emphasis on progress in human rights, governance, and technology.

Zebari highlighted the substantial strides the KRG has taken to refine its governance structures and enhance human rights, efforts that were met with commendation from Ambassador Bagchi.

A key focal point of the meeting was the pivotal role of digital governance in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. Both parties underscored the understanding that the digitalisation of governance plays a crucial role in mitigating corruption and fostering greater transparency within public administration. Ambassador Bagchi offered India’s readiness to assist the KRG in developing its digital infrastructure, digital transformation, and building capacity for effective governance. He referenced India’s notable progress in digitisation and expressed the country’s willingness to share its experiences and provide expertise to support the KRG's initiatives.

Ambassador Bagchi also announced the establishment of a new trade board between the business communities of the Kurdistan Region and India, which will serve as a dynamic platform to enhance trade and investment opportunities.
