KRG Coordinator for International Advocacy Meets Consul General of Germany

On Monday, 24 February 2025, Dindar Zebari, Coordinator for the Office of International Advocacy (OCIA) of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), met with Albrecht von Wittke, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in the Kurdistan Region.
The discussions focused on the recent Universal Periodic Review (UPR) conducted by the United Nations in Geneva, the OCIA’s role in implementing the KRG's Human Rights Plan (2021 – 2025), and Germany's UPR recommendations for Iraq, particularly on women's rights and combating domestic violence.
Both sides emphasised the importance of organising training programmes and roundtables on key human rights issues, including freedom of expression, hate speech, the status of children born to Yazidi mothers and ISIS members, and the return of internally displaced persons. These initiatives will target stakeholders from the legislative, judicial, and executive branches involved in implementing the recommendations.
