KRG to Participate in the 48th Session of the Human Rights Council

The 48th session of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) will be held from 20 - 31 January 2025, at the United Nations Headquarters in Geneva. The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) will participate as part of the Iraqi government.
The UPR aims to enhance the global human rights situation by encouraging the promotion and protection of human rights at the national and international levels.
Dindar Zebari, the KRG's Coordinator for International Advocacy stated that, during the session, the delegation will present the KRG's initiatives and progress in fulfilling its human rights obligations.
As a key feature of the UPR process, Member States of the United Nations undergo a peer review of their human rights record every 4.5 years.
