KRG and South Korean Consulate Deepen Cooperation on Governance and Capacity-Building

On Wednesday, 30 April 2025, Dindar Zebari, Coordinator of the Office of International Advocacy (OCIA) for the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), held a follow-up meeting with Seungcheol Lim, Consul General of the Republic of South Korea in the Kurdistan Region.
Building upon the foundations laid during their earlier discussions, the two sides focused on advancing institutional cooperation and strengthening the capacity of public sector employees in the Kurdistan Region. Zebari outlined the OCIA’s initiatives aimed at promoting skills development across various government departments, highlighting the importance of enhancing administrative competencies to support broader governance reforms.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to explore avenues for technical assistance and long-term capacity-building partnerships. Consul General Lim reaffirmed South Korea’s commitment to supporting the Kurdistan Region’s institutional development, citing the longstanding history of collaboration in training and empowering government personnel.
Both parties expressed their shared commitment to deepening cooperation beyond human rights advocacy, focusing also on sustainable development through the professionalisation of public institutions.
